Kelly Mitchell serves as State Treasurer for the State of Indiana. She was appointed on November 18, 2014 to complete the term of her predecessor. Her elected term is from January 1, 2015 – December 31, 2018.
For the last seven years, Kelly Mitchell has worked in the Treasurer of State’s Office as the Director of TrustINdiana, Indiana’s local government investment pool. She is proud to be part of the team at the State Treasurer’s office.
Prior to joining the Indiana Treasurer of State’s Office, Kelly was a County Commissioner for two terms in Cass County, Indiana. There she served as President of the Board of Commissioners for five of the eight years she held office. In 2000, Kelly was named First-Term Commissioner of the Year by the Association of County Commissioners. While Commissioner, she served on the State Board of the Association of County Commissioners for three years, as well as serving as a member of the County Government Senate Study Commission.
Also while Commissioner, Kelly served seven years on the Logansport-Cass County Economic Development Foundation, one of those years as President of the Commission. She founded and co-chaired Cass County “Make a Difference Day”, managing hundreds of volunteers and dozens of projects every year. By virtue of office, she also served on several other boards.
During her years in Cass County, Kelly was involved in the local Republican Party and served as the President of the Cass County Republican Women’s Club for two years. She was honored as the Cass County Republican Woman of the Year in 2000 and has served as a delegate to the State Convention four times.
Kelly holds a B.A. in Political Science from Valparaiso University and a M.A. in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University – Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI). She is an alumna of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series.
