The State Summer Work-Study program was created by the Indiana General Assembly in 1983 to increase work opportunities for Indiana undergraduates and to provide a supplement to state supported grant programs. The summer program begins May 1 and ends September 15, each year.

Students

Eligible Students

The student must:

  1. Be an Indiana resident;
  2. Have been enrolled as a full-time student at an approved institution of postsecondary education in Indiana;
  3. Have received and used a SSACI grant or scholarship during the academic year prior to the summer the student plans to work;
  4. Not have obtained a bachelor's degree prior to August 31, following the summer that the student works; and
  5. Plan to enroll as an undergraduate in the fall following the summer that the student participated in the Summer Work-Study program.

Student applicants must apply online by May 1, the year prior to the summer he or she plans to work.

Employers

Eligible Employers

  1. State, city and local government entities
  2. Private, not-for-profit organizations performing work in the public interest
  3. Public or private, not-for-profit postsecondary institutions

Employer Agreement

Employers must register to participate in the program by March 15, the year prior to the summer the organization plans to participate.
