Indianapolis, IN - Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita today appointed former Securities Commissioner Wayne Davis to replace current Commissioner James Joven, who will continue on as Special Counsel to the Secretary for Securities matters. The Chief of Staff and Deputy to former Secretary of State Ed Simcox also served as his Securities Commissioner from 1983 to 1986.

Davis, a resident of Greenfield, previously practiced Securities and Franchise Law for almost two decades as a partner with the law firm of Henderson Daily Withrow & DeVoe. Davis holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Indiana State University and a law degree from Indiana University at Indianapolis.

"For the last twenty years, Wayne has worked with the industry and has seen how securities laws have evolved over time. He has a wealth of experience from which he can draw in his new role," Rokita said. "We are extremely pleased he is willing to take over after the excellent job outgoing Commissioner Joven has done with the office."

Joven will continue on as Special Counsel to the Secretary; he will assist Secretary Rokita and Commissioner Davis in securities matters. Joven steps down after more than two years for an eventual return to private practice. During Joven's tenure, he increased both the size and production of the Securities Division. Among other accomplishments, he and Rokita worked to create the Prosecution Assistance Unit, which aids county prosecutors in criminal securities cases, as well as developed an Investor Education program.

Davis, who begins his work with Rokita's office today, said, "I am excited to return to the Secretary of State's office after being away for some time. Secretary Rokita is an energetic state official, and I am sure this will be a seamless transition considering the excellent work he and Commissioner Joven have done with the office."
