Today's Indiana Recount Commission hearing, which was convened to conduct the recount in the election for Indiana House of Representatives District 26, ended shortly after Democrat candidate John Polles withdrew petitions he had filed for a recount and contest of the election.
With the matter therefore resolved, Republican Randy Truitt will remain in his seat in the Indiana General Assembly.
"I'm pleased with how both parties came together to achieve a positive result and that the entire election process, including this recount, was fair and accurate," said Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita, who chairs the Indiana Recount Commission. "The voters and taxpayers in the 26th District and the entire state of Indiana can have confidence in the processes and systems we have in place to choose our leaders."
