The state recount commission will meet to hear the motions to dismiss the contest petitions filed in House District 76, Secretary of State races
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 29, 2010) – Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita announced today the Indiana State Recount Commission will convene a public meeting this week to conduct hearings on the motions to dismiss the contest petitions filed in the races for House District 76 and for the Office of the Indiana Secretary of State. The meeting will not address the recount petition filed in HD 76.
Rokita said the Indiana State Recount Commission will hold the public meeting on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 beginning at 3 p.m. EST. The meeting will be held in Conference Room B of the Indiana Government South Conference Center.
According to Indiana law, a recount and/or contest petition in a legislative race must be completed by Dec. 20, 2010. However, the commission may vote to extend the recount to a specific date. Additionally, Indiana law states a final determination in the contest petition for Secretary of State’s race must be made before Jan. 1, 2011.
