Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita announces “Who’s On Your Ballot?” initiative for Hoosier voters

New online service will supply voters statewide with a comprehensive list of state and local candidates on their primary and general election ballots
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita announced today the launch of a new online service developed by his office to provide Hoosier voters with a complete list of candidates who will appear on their upcoming primary and general election ballots. “Who’s On Your Ballot?” will be available to all Hoosiers online at http://www.indianavoters.com/.
“Voters want to know what to expect when they receive their ballot on Election Day or before voting absentee,” Secretary Rokita said. “Previously, Hoosiers could not find a comprehensive candidate list for federal, state and local offices until they received their ballot. ‘Who’s On Your Ballot?’ allows Hoosiers to find this information online ahead of going to the polls. Voters can then use the information to become further informed about the candidates.”
Hoosiers can enter their registration information into the “Who’s On Your Ballot?” service to access the ballot for their precinct. For the primary election, Hoosiers can use “Who’s On Your Ballot” to access candidate information from Democrat, Republican and non-partisan ballots, or obtain information about all primary candidates, regardless of party affiliation. For the general election, “Who’s On Your Ballot?” will list all candidates for all voters in a precinct, along with any public questions, such as proposed state constitutional amendments.
Candidates for statewide office, Indiana House, Indiana Senate, U.S. Congress and U.S. Senate, judicial offices and prosecuting attorney must register with the Secretary of State’s office. Secretary Rokita’s team was able to use this information to build the foundation for the “Who’s On Your Ballot?” service. From there, Secretary Rokita’s Indiana Election Division worked with all of Indiana’s 92 county clerks to collect ballot information for county, township, municipal and school board elections and local public questions.
“This service is designed to be a starting point for Hoosiers as they begin their Election Day research,” said Secretary Rokita. “Voters have typically called county and state election offices in the past wanting to know what candidates and what races would be on their ballot. Now, at http://www.indianavoters.com/, voters can get the same information that’s on the ballot – simply the candidate’s name and party affiliation.”
