Online training portal will help Indiana election administrators develop and train a world-class Election Day workforce
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita announced today that a new online poll worker training portal is now in place for the 2010 primary and general elections. The portal will be accessible to the state’s 30,000 poll workers through his office’s web site – adding another tool to local election administrators’ 21st Century toolbox.
“This new system will empower local election officials by providing them with an online training tool they can share with their poll workers,” Secretary Rokita said. “Now, combined with the training they already receive at the local level, Indiana’s Election Day poll workers will be even better equipped to administer our state’s best-in-class elections.”
Poll workers can access the training at www.in.gov/sos/elections, where they can view training videos and take practice quizzes on Election Day administration. Indiana’s online poll worker training portal will supplement the training provided by local election officials and promises to be especially valuable for poll workers who learn more effectively on their own than in the classroom.
The online training portal is available for anyone to view and could be used by the Secretary of State’s office and local election officials to showcase the roles and responsibilities of poll workers. Poll workers can also sign up for email reminders and helpful tips from the Secretary of State’s office.
“This online training tool is just one example of how we continue to increase the use of technology to make our elections even better,” said Secretary Rokita. “Well-trained poll workers are critical to success on Election Day, and this newest edition to our library of resources will help ensure their success.”
