FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 25, 2010
Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita issued the following statement today upon learning the Indiana Supreme Court had granted transfer in the case League of Women Voters of Indiana, Inc. v. Rokita. The decision means the Indiana Supreme Court will review the suit concerning Indiana’s voter identification law.
“I look forward to, once again, standing up for the principle of one person, one vote and defending the integrity of the ballot in Indiana,” said Secretary Rokita. “I am fully confident that when the justices of the Indiana Supreme Court review the merits of our exemplary law they, like their counterparts on the U.S. Supreme Court, will allow the law to stand.”
Indiana’s photo ID requirement remains in effect pending a final decision by the Indiana Supreme Court.
