(Indianapolis) – Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita issued the following statement today after the Indiana General Assembly passed a biennial budget, thereby averting a state government shutdown. Secretary Rokita and his staff had made plans to keep his office open despite a possible state government shutdown:

"I want to thank my staff for volunteering to keep our office open, especially for the 300,000 businesses and other taxpayers who depend on us most. This shows that despite what some people think of government, the staff members of the Indiana Secretary of State's office are true public servants in every sense of the word. And with the innovative 21st Century technology we've implemented, we've shown we were ready for this 'crisis' and willing to carry on the business of the state – no matter the circumstances."
