PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE ACADIS FOR COURSES THAT BEGIN AFTER JULY 1, 2010. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE THROUGH TRATS REGISTRATION SYSTEM.
The purpose of this class is to provide the student with the knowledge and skill to instruct and develop basic level shotgun courses. Shotgun instructor certification will no longer be a part of the firearms handgun instructor courses. To be eligible for this course the student must have already successfully completed the firearms handgun instructor course.
All ammunition will be provided by the Academy, except for 2o rounds of duty ammunition which will be provided by the officer's department.
Equipment Requirements:
.12 Gauge Shotgun with Sling
.Duty Leather and Handgun
.Flashlight
.Eye and Ear Protection
.Cleaning Equipment
.Appropriate Dress for all Weather Conditions
.10 rounds of duty slugs
.10 rounds of Duty Buck (00, #4, etc.)

Cost: $325 Resident/$250 Commuters for Indiana Residents. $390 Resident/$300 Commuter for Out-of-State Residents.
Inservice Credit: 24 hours
If a department needs to cancel a student from an ILEA inservice class, it must be done no later than five (5) working days prior to the start of the class. If a student does not show up or cancellation is made any closer to the start of the class the agency will be responsible for payment in full for this class.
The Calendar of Events is only a brief course description. Reporting instructions contain the correct times and information you will need in regard to the course you are applying for. Reporting information will be mailed to your officer at a later date.
