INDIANAPOLIS-Early Saturday morning the 2010 Indiana General Assembly gave final approval to a package of agreements that will postpone by one year changes to the state's unemployment insurance employer tax. Lawmakers also wrapped several job creation proposals into the agreement, including tax credits for new or expanded businesses in the state. State Senate Karen Tallian (D-Portage) was a coauthor of the bill and the Senate Democrats' representative on the negotiating team. Tallian says the bill makes further corrections in the unemployment administration system following the significant 2009 reform bill. Senate Bill 23 was approved by a unanimous vote in the Senate and by a vote of 85-12 in the House. The bill now goes to the governor for his signature.
