To obtain an application for entrance into the administrator-in-training program, you may download the application from the website.
- Review the instructions and meet the educational requirements as stated in the section entitled General Guidelines for all Applicants.
- Have the licensed administrator who wishes to be your preceptor complete and submit the Preceptor Application.
Please note: The Board cannot locate a preceptor for you nor do they provide a listing of administrators who are qualified to act as preceptors in the State of Indiana. To obtain a list of qualified administrators who have successfully completed the preceptor training through the Indiana Health Care Association, please contact Brenda Fenderson with IHCA at BFenderson@ihca.org or Ann Sullivan with LeadingAge Indiana at (317) 733-2380.
HFA Licensure Applicants:
- The administrator-in-training program must be completed in a comprehensive care facility. You will serve as an administrator-in-training for a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week but no more than ten (10) hours daily. You are required to complete the program in a minimum of six (6) months and a maximum of twelve (12) months for a minimum total of one thousand forty (1,040) hours. However, the board may grant a waiver of a portion(s) of the hours based on criteria approved by the board. To request a reduction in hours, please complete this AIT Waiver Request Form
- You MAY NOT begin your administrator-in-training program until you have received written approval from the Board. Along with this written approval, you will receive a packet of information that includes the following:
- Start Notification Form
- Notice of Change of Status and/or Discontinuance in AIT Program
- Affidavit of Completion
RCA Licensure Applicants:
- At least eighty (80) hours of the administrator-in-training program must be completed in a comprehensive care facility. Remaining hours must completed within the preceptor's facility.You will serve as an administrator-in-training for a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week but no more than ten (10) hours daily. You are required to complete the program in a minimum of six (6) months and a maximum of twelve (12) months for a minimum total of eight hundred and sixty (860) hours. However, the board may grant a waiver of a portion(s) of the hours based on criteria approved by the board. To request a reduction in hours, please complete this AIT Waiver Request Form.
- You MAY NOT begin your administrator-in-training program until you have received written approval from the Board. Along with this written approval, you will receive a packet of information that includes the following:
