Current base rates for the City of Auburn's municipal electric utility were approved on December 17, 2014.

The city's previous rates were approved in 1989. In the IURC's most recent survey of residential electric rates, Auburn Municipal Utility rates ranked lowest among the 14 electric utilities under IURC jurisdiction.

The Commission's December order approved a settlement agreement among Auburn, the OUCC and Metal Technologies, Inc..

An IURC public field hearing was held on June 11, 2014 in Auburn. The OUCC issued a May 27, 2014 news release to invite public comments.

Auburn and other electric utilities are also allowed to adjust rates periodically through IURC proceedings, to recover wholesale power and fuel costs on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
