Kokomo Gas & Fuel Co. and Northern Indiana Fuel & Light Co. (NIF&L) will merge their operations into Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), under an  Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) order issued on May 31, 2011. The order, in Cause Nos. 43941, 43942 & 43943 also establishes new base rates and charges for Kokomo Gas & Fuel. 

The Commission order approved a settlement agreement between the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) and the utilities. For a copy of the order and settlement agreement, please click here. The 67-page document is in PDF format.

An IURC public field hearing was held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in Kokomo. The OUCC issued an October 26, 2010 news release to announce the hearing and invite consumer comments.
