During its May 2011 meeting in Angola, Indiana, the LMCMP reported to the Commission regarding plans for the Indiana Lake Michigan Underwater Archaeological Resources Project.
In April 2009, the Lake Michigan Coastal Management Program (“LMCMP”) introduced concepts for the Underwater Archaeology Management Plan to the Advisory Council. A slide presentation was included.

July 19, 2011: “Passport in time” (Open to the public)
You are invited to come and enjoy a day of learning about Indiana’s Historic Shipwrecks on Tuesday, July 19. Come and learn about Indiana’s history and the sailors who braved the rough waters of Lake Michigan in the pioneer years of Indiana's development.
On June 11, 2011, Indiana Dunes State Park commemorated the tragedy of the sinking 100 years ago of the JD Marshall. Four men died, and the boat remains offshore from the Park pavilion, where the propeller is on display. The commemoration included a talk by Gene Hasiak of the Underwater Archaeological Society of Chicago.
