The hometown libraries of the three Indiana authors who were recently awarded the 2010 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award will each receive $2,500 grants this month. The Award, a program of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation, and the subsequent grants seek to recognize the contributions of Indiana authors to the literary landscape in Indiana and across the nation. The Award recognition and the grants to the following libraries are funded by the generosity of The Glick Fund, a fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation:
Public nominations for the award were submitted from across the state earlier this year and eligibility included any published writer who was born in Indiana or has lived in Indiana for at least five years. An eight-member, statewide Award Panel selected the winners in the three categories, which were announced last month.
Information about nominating an author for the 2011 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award will be made available early next year. To learn more, visit www.indianaauthorsaward.org.
WebJunction invites Indiana librarians to join in their free online conference, “Serving the 21st Century Patron,” on December 1st and 2nd. The two-day, eight-session conference from noon - 5:00 PM (EST) will feature several notable speakers and focus on the changing needs and evolving approaches related to customer service in 21st-century libraries.
Space for the conference is limited and registration is required. Attendees are encouraged to attend the conference as a cohort under a single registration in order to not only allow more people to attend, but also for your group to benefit from face-to-face discussions and break-out sessions. Complete conference details and session information is available on WebJunction.
