Rep. Heuer is a former small business owner of several retail stores in Columbia City and Warsaw, and is a graduate of
Indiana University. She is a real estate broker associate with Orizon Real Estate in Whitley County. Kathy and husband Jim share 7 children and 9 grandchildren.
Previously, Kathy was a Columbia City Common Council member for 8 years, on the Columbia City Housing Authority for 4 years, Columbia City Board of Works for 4 years, Columbia City Plan Commission for 6 years, former President of the Whitley County United Way Board of Directors and was Co-Chairman of the United Way Campaign in Whitley County for 2 years. Also, she was Vice Chairman of the Whitley County Republican Party for 4 years and then served as Chairman for the following 4 years.
Currently, Kathy is the Chairman of the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors (2010), President of the Blue River Senior Housing Corp. (a non-profit organization that builds low income housing for senior citizens in Whitley County) and she sits on the Government Affairs Committee for the Fort Wayne Association of Realtors.
