State Representative Jeff Thompson has had the opportunity to serve his community and state in many areas while residing in the west central part of Indiana. He has participated in numerous community activities including serving as a member of the Indiana State Fair Board and the Indiana State Fair Commission. In addition, he spent 12 years serving as a member of the Hendricks County 4-H Fair Board. Other activities include serving as a member of the Hendricks County Extension Board and Indiana Farm Bureau. He also currently serves as a director for the North Salem State Bank.

As a member of the Education Committee, Rep. Thompson works hard to promote the health and success of Indiana children. During the 2007 legislative session, Representative Thompson coauthored House Enrolled Act 1457, which establishes the prenatal substance abuse commission in order to develop of plan of action to improve early intervention for pregnant women who abuse alcohol, drugs and tobacco. This is a continuation of a law Rep. Thompson coauthored during the 2006 legislative session with House Enrolled Act 1314, a law that required the State Department of Health to study the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco by pregnant women and promoted a recovery program for mothers and children.

Representative Thompson graduated from Purdue University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. He is currently a member of the Purdue Alumni Association and remains involved in Boilermaker activities and events.

Representative Thompson has served as the State Representative for District 28 since 1998. Before he was elected as a state official, he participated in the political community by being involved with the Republican State Convention and serving as a Precinct Committeeman, a position he continues to hold.

After 31 years, Representative Thompson retired from teaching Chemistry, Physics, and Math at Danville Community High School.

Representative Thompson lives in Lizton, Indiana with his wife of 18 years, Michelle. He has six children, Caleb, Isaac, Abraham, Lydia, Josiah, and Anna. The family is a member of Northview Christian Church in Danville.
