The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications (JQC) has issued an advisory opinion addressing a judicial officer's ethical duties with regard to participating in a family member's campaign for elected office. The Commission has concluded that a judicial officer may take a limited role in a relative's campaign (for example, appearing in promotional materials), but must carefully avoid using the prestige of judicial office to advance the relative's candidacy.
