Steven F. Lancaster became the Administrator of the Court of Appeals of Indiana in September 1995.  A native of Shelbyville, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1967 and his law degree from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington in 1970.

For 28 years, he served in the United States Army's Judge Advocate General's Corps, retiring as a Colonel.  He served all over the world, including seven years at four installations in Germany.  While on active duty, Colonel Lancaster was an instructor for four years at the Judge Advocate General's School at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where he taught Environmental Law, the Privacy Act, Federal and State Tax, Estate Planning, and interviewing and counseling.  He has participated in the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA) program as an instructor.

He is admitted to practice before the Indiana Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the United States Supreme Court.  He and his wife have four children and eight grandchildren.
