Training/Deployment Intox EC/IR II

The Indiana State Department of Toxicology (ISDT) is replacing the BAC DataMaster breath test instrument with the Intox EC/IR II instrument (pictured below). ISDT will provide free training on the new instrument to currently certified breath test operators. The half-day course will be held regionally and include lecture, hands-on training, and a recertification examination. Only breath test operators with active certifications as of the date of the course will be admitted to the course.
ISDT is currently scheduling training dates and locations. As this information becomes available, it will be posted on this webpage. ISDT will contact agencies with certified breath test operators to schedule training. Please do not call ISDT for a reservation.

July 2013 – Site Readiness Information
October - November 2013 – ISDT staff inspects and prepares Intox EC/IR II’s for deployment
November 2013 – Indianapolis: New breath test operator training is suspended until July 2014
December 2013 – Southwest region: Training courses on Intox EC/IR II for breath test operators with active certifications held at Evansville Indiana National Guard Armory, December 2 - 6th; ISDT staff begins deployment of new instruments and removal of BAC DataMasters beginning December 9th January 2014 – Northeast region: Training courses on Intox EC/IR II for breath test operators with active certifications held at Fort Wayne Public Safety Academy, January 6 – 10th; ISDT staff begins deployment of new instruments and removal of BAC DataMasters beginning January 13th
February 2014 – Southeast region: Training courses on Intox EC/IR II for breath test operators with active certifications; ISDT staff deploys new instruments and removes BAC DataMasters
March - April 2014 – Central region: Training courses on Intox EC/IR II for breath test operators with active certifications to be held at the ISP District 52 and Youth Education and Historical Center, March 10-14th, March 17-21st, April 7-11th, and April 14-18th; ISDT staff begins deployment of new instruments and removal of BAC DataMasters beginning April 21st
May 2014 – Northwest region: Training courses on Intox EC/IR II for breath test operators with active certifications; ISDT staff deploys new instruments and removes BAC DataMasters
June 2014 – Indianapolis: Training courses on Intox EC/IR II for breath test operators with active certifications who were unable to attend training in operator’s home region, to be held at the ISP District 52 and Youth Education and Historical Center, June 16-20th
July 2014 – Intox EC/IR II will be used for all evidentiary breath testing; training for new breath test operators will resume
