ISDT > Blood Sampling Blood Sampling

Most samples for our lab are taken using kits provided by the Indiana State Department of Toxicology. Other types of samples such as plasma or serum are acceptable, but the kits are designed to provide the best protection for the samples and the chain of custody for them.

These kits include two gray top vacutainer tubes with sodium fluoride (preservative) and potassium oxalate (anticoagulant).

Each kit also contains a urine sampling bottle (50 mL), protective packaging, seals, labels, absorbant pad, instructions for use, and a Toxicology Analysis Request Form.

Refer to the Toxicology Analysis Request Instructions and Form for more details.
