INDOT > About INDOT > Central Office > Welcome to the Seymour District > I-65 at Worthsville Road I-65 at Worthsville Road

This project involves construction of a new interchange at Interstate 65 at Worthsville Road in Johnson County. The purpose of the project is to enhance safety, address traffic congestion, and provide additional access to and from I-65 in Johnson County.

The area has experienced substantial commercial and residential growth, resulting in large increases in traffic volume. Residential and commercial development is also expected to continue to grow in this area which will add to the volumes of traffic moving through this area.

Construction of a new interchange at I-65 and Worthsville Road will enhance economic growth, reduce congestion, and provide better east-west connectivity and traffic movement in Johnson County. The interchange also will ease congestion at the existing I-65 interchanges at Main Street and at Whiteland Road in Johnson County and reduce expected crashes on I-65 and nearby area surface streets.

INDOT is now weighing the expected three proposed options for the new interchange. These range from a Diverging Diamond Interchange to two versions of a Partial Cloverleaf Interchange. Each design has advantages and disadvantages.

In December 2012, INDOT hosted a public open house to introduce this proposed project to the community and more importantly, to receive public input, address questions, comments and concerns.
