Geotechnical Services is responsible for performing geotechnical investigations and providing recommendations for the design and construction of roadway and structures for the INDOT. Geotechnical investigations include soil borings, sampling, testing, and engineering analyses for the purpose of evaluating the subsurface conditions in order to provide recommendations for a suitable and economical foundation design.
This section is also responsible for the review of geotechnical reports prepared by a geotechnical consultant for all federally funded local agency projects.
In addition to geotechnical investigations, the section also handles all issues relating to Geotechnical Engineering for the INDOT. These issues may include:
