FY 2018 Grade Crossing Fund

The Indiana State Legislature established the Railroad Grade Crossing Fund (RRGCF) (I.C. 8-6-7.7-6.1) to provide funding for railroad-highway crossing improvement projects throughout Indiana. The INDOT Rail Office manages the RRGCF program as a cost reimbursement grant. Local Public Agencies, such as cities, towns, and counties, are eligible to apply, as are Class II and Class III Railroads and Port Authorities.

All application selections for FY18 GCF have been made. The list of grant recipients is below.

INDOT accepts applications for the Crossing Closure Program all year. This program is funded by the Railroad Grade Crossing Fund. INDOT encourages the use of RRGCF monies to be used as an incentive to help communities that choose to permanently close crossings. The Crossing Closure program is a one-time incentive payment grant administered by the Rail Programs Office. If you are a community that would like to apply for this incentive program, please fill out the Crossing Closure Application below and send to Bridgette Hail, Sr. Rail Planner- bhail@indot.in.gov. The Rail Programs Office will determine the award given to each community, after the application is received. Please contact the Rail Programs Office (317) 232-5463 with any questions.
