Chairman Patrick W. Mapes
The IEERB Chairman is appointed by the Governor of Indiana. Recently, Governor Mike Pence reappointed Patrick W. Mapes as IEERB’s Chairman. Pat has served Indiana public school children for over twenty-five years as a teacher, building level administrator, central office administrator, and state level administrator. He served on the IHSAA Board of Directors and Executive Committee and was President and Chairman of each entity. Pat served as Director of Licensing and Assistant Superintendent of Operations for the Indiana Department of Education. In those roles he established new licensing rules and brought many efficiencies and savings to the department. Pat obtained his B.S., M.S., and Ed.S. from Ball State University.
John L. Krauss, Esq.
John L. Krauss, an attorney, mediator, and arbitrator. He recently retired from Indiana University and IUPUI after 23 years. He served as director of the Indiana University Public Policy Institute and a clinical professor at the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Previously, Krauss served as Deputy Mayor of Indianapolis (1982-1991).
Krauss currently serves as a senior advisor to the Chancellor of IUPUI and as adjunct professor at the Indiana University McKinney School of Law-Indianapolis. He teaches mediation and dispute resolution and has an alternative dispute resolution and mediation consultant practice. Krauss holds leadership positions with a diverse array of civic and corporate organizations, including Tourism for Tomorrow, Inc., the Indiana Education Employment Relations Board, President Benjamin Harrison Foundation, Central Indiana Land Trust and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He is Past Chair of the Indiana Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education.
