In accordance with Indiana Code 27-1-15.8-4(c), surplus lines producers are required to file the surplus lines company’s annual statement filed with its state of domicile and the NAIC by March 31st for evaluation to determine whether the company will be authorized as a surplus lines carrier. If the company files its annual statement electronically with the NAIC, producers will no longer need submit a hard copy; however the surplus lines producer should submit a letter indicating which surplus lines companies it currently places or is anticipating placing business with during the year.
