There are numerous volunteer opportunities at the Indiana Department of Correction. For more information or to find out how you can help, please contact the Religious and Volunteer Services Division or the facility where you would like to volunteer.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer needs vary by facility and are constantly changing. Below are some examples of the common roles where volunteers are vital. Contact a facility for more detailed information about their current volunteer needs.

  • Individual and group mentoring
  • Tutoring in various subjects
  • Program facilitation
  • Fatherhood programming
  • Substance Abuse (AA/NA)
  • Faith-based groups
  • Re-Entry assistance (resumes, job interviews/search, etc.)

Volunteer Handbook

If you are interested in volunteering with the Indiana Department of Correction or you are in the process of being approved to volunteer, please review the IDOC Volunteer Handbook. It contains valuable information to help you understand what is expected of our volunteers and prepare you for volunteering in a correctional environment.

Volunteer Forms

The IDOC Volunteer Packet below must be completed prior to New Volunteer Orientation. These forms are a part of the documentation required to become a volunteer with the Indiana Department of Correction. Once you've completed these forms, contact the facility where you would like to volunteer for submission instructions. These forms can also be provided to you if you do not have access to a printer.

During New Volunteer Orientation, you will asked to complete the following forms. You may bring these completed forms to orientation. Paper copies will also be made available at orientation.
