Nonpoint Source Water Pollution

Nonpoint Source > Funding > Clean Water Act Section 319(h) Grants > Nonpoint Source Pollution Grant Application Solicitation Nonpoint Source Pollution Grant Application Solicitation

IDEM accepts grant applications for Section 319(h) and 205(j) funds only during certain specific time periods each year. This page is updated when new funds become available from U.S. EPA and grant funding priorities have been set by IDEM. Please note that applications submitted outside of the grant solicitation time period will not be considered for funding. Competition for grant funds is high and funds available are limited. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to work with IDEM staff before submitting any grant application.

Section 319(h) Solicitation

The solicitation for applications for FFY 2017 Section 319 grant funds begins April 1, 2016. Notice of Intent (NOI) emails for the FFY 2017 grant solicitation are due June 1, 2016. The NOI is a formal notification of the intent to submit an application and includes a brief description of the project. This is a requirement if you are going to submit an application for grant funding. Applications for FFY 2017 Section 319 grant funds are due September 1, 2016. Your electronic application submittal must be received by IDEM on or before September 1, 2016, and your mailed hard copy must be postmarked no later than September 1, 2016. Please review the Solicitation Announcement [DOC] for important information including project eligibility, funding priorities, and application requirements. Please note that Section 319 applications will only be reviewed from applicants who submitted an approved NOI.

All projects must include a matching contribution, from non-federal funds, of 40 percent of the total project cost. While timeframes can change from year to year, in recent years, applicants have officially been notified of the grant award after Congress releases funds in June or July. Applicants should plan that if a grant is awarded, project start dates would be in the last quarter of 2016 at the earliest.

Section 205(j) Solicitation

IDEM is currently not soliciting for 205(j) grant applications. IDEM has not determined when the next solicitation for 205(j) funds will occur.
