The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) now offers an informative Plating webpage including Chromium Electroplating Operations and Plating and Polishing Operations to assist with coming into compliance with amendments to 40 CFR 63, Subpart N and 40 CFR 63, Subpart 6W.

Amendments to 40 CFR 63, Subpart N, National Emission Standards for Chromium Emissions from Hard and Decorative Chromium Electroplating and Chromium Anodizing Tanks, include emission limit reductions, potential changes to testing requirements of chromium emissions, incorporation of Best Management Practices (BMP) within the Operation and Maintenance Plan (OMP), as well as prohibition of the use of Perfluorooctane Sulfonic Acid (PFOS). 40 CFR 63, Subpart WWWWWW, Hazardous Air Pollutants: Area Source Standards for Plating and Polishing Operations, affects emissions of cadmium, chromium, lead, manganese, and/or nickel from several different types of operations.
