General Information

Indiana Code 13-20-10-8, as added by Public Law 84-1992, requires composting facilities to submit an annual report. The owner or operator of the composting facility should send it to IDEM by January 31 of each year. The report will indicate the amount of material processed by the composting facility during the preceding year and the final disposition of the compost. The facility should use daily intake records, scale receipts, and other material intake records to calculate annual amount processed. Facilities without weighing scales should use the most appropriate conversion factors. A list of suggested conversion factors is provided below.

How to Obtain Composting Facility Annual Report Forms

Customized forms are sent to each facility about 30 days before the reports are due. The forms have identification information for each facility which needs not be retyped unless there are changes in address, phone numbers or staff since the last submission. If you need a copy of the form for a specific facility, call IDEM at (317) 233-0066 or e-mail "olqregulatoryreporting at idem.IN.gov".

The following are suggested conversion factors for dry materials. Discretion should be used in choosing the best conversion factor in each case.
