Indianapolis- The Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) will announce the recipients of the 2013 Torchbearer Awards on March 6, 2013 at an induction ceremony held in the Indiana Government Center Auditorium. The Torchbearer Awards ceremony is the State of Indiana’s only program that honors the women of Indiana.
“Indiana Torchbearers are those women who have been pioneers throughout their lives and have stepped forward as leaders by breaking down barriers to women’s full participation,” said Betsy Corridor, Chair of the ICW Board of Commissioners. “These women have become true beacons of light and their stories of courage, perseverance and compassion create a lasting legacy of inspiration for us all.”
All of the nominated candidates have demonstrated character and accomplishment by leading the way for other women. Individuals selected for a Torchbearer award have been pioneers in their industries, have inspirational stories while facing tough choices, and have made significant contributions that set the standard for other women in both their communities and in Indiana.

About the Indiana Commission for Women
The Indiana Commission for Women is committed to the full participation of women in all aspects of society in order to live, work and raise a family. ICW works to move Indiana women forward by understanding the needs of Indiana women and their families and by working strategically both within government and in our communities to help bring about positive solutions. We act as the voice of women by communicating their needs and concerns as well as their successes and contributions, so that they can become better connected to their communities and to the tools, resources and opportunities needed to find their own voice.
