In today's society, women now make up approximately 50% of the U.S. workforce.  However, the pay equity gap continues to exist with women earning approximately 78% of what men receive.  The Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) is positioned to provide women with crucial tools to help them succeed in the modern workplace by conducting Working Women in Transition: Building Essential Skills for Success.

About $tart $mart
Negotiating salaries is a challenge for women at all stages of their careers, as women are less likely than men to ask for what they deserve. $tart $mart was created by the WAGE Project, a non-profit national organization dedicated to the elimination of the gender wage gap. The $tart $mart Workshop empowers women to avoid the gender wage gap and teaches them to benchmark and negotiate for fair and equitable salaries.  In March of 2009, WAGE and AAUW joined forces to address gender equity by training their members and working together to deliver the program.

* $tart $mart Facilitator Training in Evansville
WAGE is offering a facilitator training session to interested persons on Friday, September 17th immediately following Working Women in Transition, at the Evansville location.  Trained individuals can present future workshops to their local universities or community organizations.  The cost for the facilitator training is $50 per person, which covers training materials and ongoing coaching.  Having a trained facilitator affords added flexibility of scheduling workshops and lessens the cost for subsequent workshops.  If you are interested in becoming a facilitator, please register for the event and check yes to facilitating.  Specific questions may be directed to Annie Houle, National Director of Campus and Community Inititiatives for the WAGE Project, at ahoule@wageproject.org, or by phone at 207-899-2883.
