Ensuring that Indiana's children receive the very best educational opportunities regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or any other protected class is critical to the continued growth of the state's economy and the promotion of the core value of equality so central to Hoosier way of life.
Not surprisingly, scholastic achievement has become one of the foremost civil rights issues of our time. Working with other state agencies, Indiana's school's, and a spectrum of community and faith-based partners to bridge the gaps children in so many of our cities face will require clear guidelines, measureable strategies, and a research-based approach to developing objectives.
By colloborating with both public and private educational leaders, and taping in to new sources of huamn an financial capital, the Indiana Civil Rights Commission is taking a comprehensive and systematic approach to making responsible changes in communities across Indiana in a way that not only levels but, redefines the playing field.
