The Indiana Civil Rights Commission, in conjunction with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, cordially invite schools, grades 6 – 12, to attend the 20th annual statewide Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Educational Youth Summit.  This year’s summit will take place Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Indiana State Museum located at 650 W. Washington Street in Indianapolis.

Program Schedule

9:00 am-9:30 am: School's check-in.
9:30 am-10:20 am: Student's are guided through the second floor of the Indiana State Museum.
10:25 am-10:50 am: Student's in Group One are guided through a video presentation highlighting famous speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Group Two is provided lunch.
10:55 am-11:20 am: Student's in Group One are provided lunch. Group Two will be guided through a video presentation highlighting famous speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the State Museum Auditorium.
10:25 am-10:50 am: Student's in Group One are guided through a video presentation highlighting famous speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Group Two is provided lunch.
11:25 am-12:10 pm: Student's will gather in the museum's O'Bannon Great Hall for a presentation entitled "A Meeting of the Minds". During this program, the political relationship between Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass is brought to life by actors who present each man's thoughts about slavery and how it should be dealt with as a nation.
