ICPR > Records Management > General Information > State Government Records Management: Agency-Specific Retention Schedules > State Government Records Management: How To Use The Retention Schedule Database State Government Records Management: How To Use The Retention Schedule Database

The Record Series listed in this database describe the types of public records created by each Indiana state agency, and the retention and disposition instructions for each type.

You can search by:

  • State Agency/division name
  • Record Series Number (individual ID number for a specific record series)
  • Record Series Title.

Search Results: This page lists Record Series Number, Title, and Agency Name for each Record Series found. It does not indicate whether each Record Series is current or deleted; one must view the details page for that information.

Details: Shows the full description of a single Record Series and its disposition instructions. Be sure to check the top of this page to see if a Record Series is "current" or "deleted" -- a deleted Record Series is not applicable to current records, and is only provided for historical information.

Please Note

Record series in this database are specific to the state agency under which they are listed; they may not be applied to the records of other state agencies, and do not apply to any records not created by state government agencies.

For public records that are created by all state government administrative agencies, see the General Retention Schedule for state government.

Please see ICPR Policy 06-01 (in pdf format) for information about scanning non-archival records with a retention of 10 years or less. This policy applies to all records of administrative agencies, whether on an agency-specific retention schedule, or on the General Retention Schedule.

Every effort has been made to keep this database accurate, but data is still being verified. If you have any questions, please contact the Records Management Division.
