Governor Joseph Kernan has appointed James Carmichael, DVM to the Thoroughbred Development Advisory Committee. Dr. Carmichael replaces Jake Frederick who resigned due to personal commitments.

Dr. Carmichael and his wife Jan have owned and operated Carmichael Stock Farm in Sullivan, Indiana since 1972. Dr. Carmichael has an equine veterinary practice and previously ran a racetrack veterinary service.

Dr. Carmichael joins Mari-Hulman George and Jim Elliott on the advisory committee. The committee, who's mission is to develop and promote a vibrant thoroughbred breeding industry in the state, advises the Racing Commission on a multi-platformed awards program which distributes approximately $3 million annually.
