Indiana's First Railroad

Location: In Storage/Undergoing Repair.  SR 44 between E. Broadway & McLane Streets, east of downtown Shelbyville. (Shelby County, Indiana)

An experimental two mile road was completed to this point on July 4, 1834. A horse-drawn car carried Hoosiers on a railroad for the first time.
