Centennial of Indiana State Parks – 2016

  • A major result of the Centennial of Statehood in 1916 was the creation of the State Parks system.
  • Division of State Parks, Indiana Department of Natural Resources is moving forward toward its centennial year - The history of Indiana's state parks.

Centennial of Society of Indiana Pioneers – 2016

  • The Society of Indiana Pioneers
  • During the Centennial celebration, this organization was formed to include people who were descendants of the early settlers of Indiana. Today, there are four classes of membership available to persons interested in the goals of the Society.
  • In preparation for the 200th anniversary of statehood the Society will honor special pioneers from each of Indiana’s 92 counties.

Commemorations Central

  • Commemorations Central - A Resource for Planning Historical Commemorations

    Indiana will observe the bicentennial of its statehood in 2016. A compendium containing a history of Indiana's centennial celebration, bicentennial projects highlighting the state's natural resources, education, ethnicity, and transportation, responses from various state organizations is available.
