The Case Manager Orientation (CMO) provides a general overview of Medicaid and Home & Community Based Services waivers.  The one-day orientation will introduce new case managers to Indiana’s waiver administration, operation requirements and how case management works with the Division of Aging  to ensure the health and safety of the individuals being served. Orientation information includes:

  • Aged & Disabled (A&D) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waivers
  • Incident Reporting
  • QA/QI functions
  • Nursing Facility Level of Care – E-Screens
  • Service Plans

All waiver case managers must attend Indiana Family and Social Services (FSSA) Case Manager Orientation within the first six months of employment. Until a case manager has successfully completed the orientation;

  1. They may not work independently
  2. They will not be enrolled in the billing system

Please note: A case manager may not provide services after 6 months or more leave of absence without attending CMO again.  

CASE MANAGER TRAINING

All waiver case managers must obtain 20 hours of related training annually (not including the CMO). Ten hours of this training must be approved by the Division of Aging.

EXCLUSIONS

Case management may not be conducted by;

  1. Any organization, entity or individual that also delivers other in-home and community-based services under the home and community-based waiver program;
  2. Any organization, entity or individual related by common ownership or control to any other organization, entity or individual who also delivers other in-home and community-based services under the HCBS waiver program (unless the organization is a AAA that has been granted permission by the Family and Social Services Administration to provide direct services to individuals).

The CMO Orientation is offer each month at the Indiana Government Center South building in downtown Indianapolis. Registration is required. To register click here. Navigate to the month you wish to attend and click the CMO link to register. Please note that seating is limited.

CMO 2013 Schedule: January 8, February 12, March 12, April 9, May 14, June 11,July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 12, December 10.
