On My Way Pre-K will award grants to four year olds from low-income families so that they may have access to a high-quality Pre-K program the year before they begin Kindergarten. Families who receive a grant may use the grant at any approved On My Way Pre-K Program.
This page will provide news, information and updates on this program, as FSSA and its advisory group and partners move through the process of implementation within the five chosen pilot counties: Allen County, Lake County, Marion County, Jackson County and Vanderburgh County.
The first round of On My Way Pre-K grants will be awarded in January 2015 to 4-year-old children that will be starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2015.
The next round of grants will begin open lottery applications for families on February 23, 2015 for children that will be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2016. Those applications must be received by May 1, 2015. Chosen families will be notified and will need to choose an eligible provider by July 1, 2015, completing the enrollment process with their local intake office.
Purdue University was selected through the RFP process to conduct the longitudinal evaluation, required by Sec. 12(a) of HEA1004, of students who participate in the pilot program to determine the achievement levels of those in kindergarten and later grades.
