Developing a premier workforce that will allow Indiana employers to flourish and entice businesses from outside our state to relocate to Indiana.
In order to accomplish the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) mission, there are two main directives to be met: The first is the creation and administration of programs that will enable Indiana’s workforce to be the finest in the nation and support the state goal of at least 60% of Hoosiers having a quality credential or degree by 2025. The second is the payment of unemployment claims to people who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own, along with the collection of unemployment insurance premiums from employers.
Taken from these directives are the following goals:
In delivering on the goals outlined above, everyone at DWD will be required to think outside-the-box; to determine metrics that will allow for “measurement and improvement” and more “measurement and improvement” of processes along the way. Cutting edge technologies will be utilized to help assess Indiana’s employment future. If managed properly, Indiana’s workforce will be second to none and completely prepared for the next phase of the state and country’s economic growth.
