New Publications for Special Tax
July 9, 2014 – TaxTalk Blog
Many of the taxpayers who file alcohol, tobacco, and special fuel taxes are small businesses. Keeping track of the filing requirements and the legislative changes that occur each year for several tax types can be challenging. To help simplify the tax collection and remittance process, the department created new newsletters for alcohol, tobacco, and special fuel taxpayers.
Similar to the BizTax and Tax Dispatch newsletters the department publishes for Indiana businesses and tax practitioners, these newsletters will help businesses better understand Indiana tax laws; the tax-filing process; and the services available to help them as their businesses deal with tax policies, procedures, and changes. Each newsletter will be published twice per year.
The department encourages those who file alcohol, tobacco, and special fuel taxes to read these publications and share them with colleagues. Each publication also offers a subscription service.
The Indiana Fuel Tax Update is published at www.in.gov/dor/5159.htm. The Indiana Alcohol Tax Update and Indiana Fuel Tax Update will be released in the next few months, so keep an eye out for them on the department’s website!
