DOR > Tax Talk Blog > Submit Your Suggestions for Improving Taxes Submit Your Suggestions for Improving Taxes

June 4, 2014—TaxTalk Blog

In April, Governor Mike Pence, the Office of Management and Budget and the Department of Revenue announced the Tax Simplification and Competitiveness Conference, taking place in Indianapolis June 24. Now, the state invites all Hoosiers and Hoosier businesses to submit tax simplification suggestions to be heard at the conference.

The tax conference will further Governor Pence’s plans to make Indiana a more competitive state for businesses as well as examine simplification ideas that can make filing and paying taxes easier for all Hoosiers. It will bring together significant Hoosier and national tax experts, along with key administration officials and state legislators, business leaders, and local government leaders to discuss ways to simplify Indiana’s tax code. To see a list of conference speaker and presentations, click here.

But before the conference, the state wants to hear your voice! Are there any areas of the tax code that need special attention? Do you have an idea for a way to make Indiana individual or business taxes better? If so, you are invited to submit comments, recommendations or suggestions about ways the state can improve its tax structure.

You can submit comments at www.in.gov/dor/5120.htm, and they will be posted at www.in.gov/dor/5121.htm.

If you would prefer to send your suggestions in a letter, mail it to:

Indiana Department of Revenue
Public Relations MS 103
100 N. Senate Ave IGCN 248
Indianapolis, IN 46204-2253

All of your recommendations will be presented for speakers’ and panelists’ consideration at the conference.

In addition to major presentations by national speakers, the tax conference will include seven discussion sessions, each of which will address a separate topic, including:

  • “How to succeed at tax simplification”
  • Corporate tax
  • Individual income tax
  • Local tax
  • Sales and use tax
  • Tax competitiveness
  • Tax simplification
