Do you or someone you know own a business? New and small business owners and entrepreneurs have the vision, the tenacity, and the dedication that drive Indiana’s economy and pave each community’s future. They are the revenue generators, the innovators, and the core of business in this state.
Understanding taxes is one of the biggest challenges facing small businesses. When businesses, especially small businesses, have difficulty with the department it is often a result of not understanding how to follow regulations regarding filing and paying taxes in Indiana. To better serve these businesses, the department is increasing educational outreach about business taxes, including new and updated resources, and a new speaker series.
For the speaker series, the department is collaborating with community organizations to offer free seminars on basic business taxes in Indiana. Seminar attendees will learn about sales tax and income tax withholding. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to network with community business members and have questions answered by a department representative.
The Indiana CPA Society was the first collaborator to work with the department to hold the first seminar in Kokomo, Ind. on Oct. 25. In addition to the successful seminar already held, the department and Indiana CPA Society are working together to offer two, upcoming free seminars in November and December.
