Nov. 20, 2012
This year the Indiana legislature passed a few laws that change the way business taxpayers will be required to file and remit sales and withholding taxes. The changes are as follows:
This mean that beginning next year, all sales and withholding taxes will have to be remitted via the Department’s INtax application or a electronic funds transfer (EFT). Additionally, businesses will be required to file their sales and withholding electronically, which can include using vendors certified by the Department or the Department’s free INtax application.
Taxpayers should register for INtax (www.intax.in.gov), begin using software approved by the Department, or go to a tax professional that is electronically filing these taxes before Jan. 1, 2013, rather than risking non-compliance and legal actions.
Learn more about INtax. Download our "INtax QuickStart Guide." Then register to use INtax to file and pay your sales and withholding taxes.
To speak with a bilingual representative at the Indiana Department of Revenue about the new mandate, please call (317) 232-2240 (press 2 for Spanish) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Or you can submit questions via e-mail to jevans@dor.in.gov. You may also visit the Department’s Spanish Web site at www.impuestos.in.gov/.
