The Indiana Department of Revenue understands that running and succeeding in a new or small business is both a dream for many people, and a challenge for all. And understanding taxes is often one of the biggest challenges.
In addition to registering (if it is required) with the Secretary of State, many business will also have to register with the Indiana Department of Revenue. A business is required to register with the Indiana Department of Revenue if the business will:
To register with the Indiana Department of Revenue, the business must submit a Business Tax Application (Form BT-1) found at any Department of Revenue office or https://forms.in.gov/Download.aspx?id=2467 The business can even register online at https://secure.in.gov/apps/dor/bt1/ and begin business operations today.
And remember, the Indiana Department of Revenue recently launched its New and Small Business Education Center to answer a variety of business-tax questions. With this online tool, businesses can access tax information and resources, and can update account information, register to collect new tax types, find forms and other valuable resources, and file and pay taxes online through INtax – 24/7.
