The Indiana Department of Revenue recently launched its New and Small Business Education Center to answer a variety of business-tax questions. With this new online tool, businesses can access a range of features, information and resources – such as updating account information, registering to collect new tax types, finding forms and other valuable resources, and filing and paying taxes online through INtax – 24/7.
“Running a successful business can be a significant challenge,” said Commissioner John Eckart. “The potential for a business to succeed depends on how prepared an owner is for the many decisions he or she has to make –and tax compliance is certainly a critical decision.”
But the New and Small Business Education Center can make that part of running a business much easier with its interactive videos and easy-to-understand information and resources. These features guide new and small business owners through the state tax process, depending upon their business type: sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or nonprofit.
“For example, a small business that plans to expand and hire employees can find everything it needs about state withholding taxes,” said Commissioner Eckart.
The New and Small Business Education Center also puts businesses in touch with INtax, Indiana's free online tax filing program that allows businesses to file and pay various tax types, order filing vouchers, register a new business, and much more.
In the months ahead, the Department plans to update the site with new sections, videos and audio casts from subject-matter experts. Businesses can subscribe to the New and Small Business Education Center and receive an e-mail every time it is updated.
