To participate in the Indiana Electronic Filing Program, a Software Developer must be accepted into the federal program. The application to become an Authorized e-file Provider can be found on the IRS website at http://www.irs.gov/Tax-Professionals/e-File-Providers-&-Partners/Submit-Application. To participate as a Software Developer in the Indiana Electronic Filing Program, you must work with the Department to develop and test your software. This includes testing of certain forms the software must produce.  Please complete Indiana’s Electronic Filing Program Registration form to register your interest with us and receive a user ID and password to access Publications.

Only software packages certified by the Indiana Department of Revenue may be used to create and transmit Indiana returns. No company may advertise that a software package can be used for electronically filing Indiana returns until receiving written notice from the Department stating that their software has been certified for the current tax year.

The Department is currently participating in the Fed/State Electronic Filing programs under the MeF (Modernized e-File) platform. Software developers must register with the Department to indicate the platforms they will support under each of their products. The Department will then assign and send the developers a separate Software Developer Code for each platform they support within each of their products.

If you have questions regarding E-File software development or software testing, please e-mail the Department.
