It is a license plate that signifies something special. The driver of a vehicle with the ELP is identified as a partner in one of the great ventures in Indiana.
The Environmental License Plate is the primary means by which the Indiana Heritage Trust raises funds to purchase and protect valuable land in Indiana—lands that are exceptional and should be protected. Land that might be important or fragile, could provide valuable habitat for an endangered species, or offer good hunting, fishing or opportunities for other recreation. These properties could also provide a chance to preserve or enhance special cultural resources.
